Oahu Public Transportation: Take a ride on The Bus, not just any bus, but "The Bus." That`s the name of the Oahu transportation authority`s bus system.
The Bus provides public transportation to various Honolulu destinations as well as to destinations throughout the rest of the island of Oahu. The one-way fare for an adult age 17 to 64 years old is currently $2.00. One free transfer, good for 2 hours, is also available - but you have to ask the bus driver for it as you pay upon entry. Speaking of payments, only cash payments are accept on the buses - exact change only. Or you may choose to buy one of the available monthly passes. Monthly passes are also available for purchase at a current price of $40.00. Disability and Senior citizen fares for passengers over 65 years old pay $1.00 per one way ticket travel or a monthly pass can be purchased for $10.00. Visitors also have the option of purchasing a 4 day pass for unlimited travel on all The Bus routes for only $20. The fare for passengers between the ages of 6 to 17 years old is $1 while children under 6 years old ride free. Most buses are scheduled to run between the hours of 5:00 am and 10:00 pm.
