Let’s face it, most of us love eating. And why not, after all- food is a necessity of life. When it comes down to food in Hawaii, oh will you be living... Almost anywhere you go on the island you can find a great place to eat. There are tremendous varieties of restaurants throughout Honolulu and the Waikiki area as well as the North Shore, but finding that great little spot in one of the other small towns outside Honolulu can prove to be quite special.

If you are hungry, there is something to fit every budget, any wallet or any purse in Waikiki and other areas in Honolulu. If you fancy a high-end restaurant with all the bells and whistles in order to make that special impression on that special someone, there is just the right restaurant on Oahu for you. On a medium sized budget and looking for average priced food? Name your pallet and your mood; dining in or dining out, there is a restaurant on Oahu to satisfy you.

If you are on a smaller budget or looking for a fast food restaurant, anything from a McDonalds, to Popeye’s to Taco Bell or to the small sub shop on the beach can be found on Oahu. Fortunately, the dollar menu does exist in Hawaii also.

Foods You Should Try

Hawaii is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean; if you are a seafood lover you`re in Paradise. If you are a casual seafood diner then you may just become a seafood lover before you leave Paradise. You cannot visit without trying the Hawaiian Mahi Mahi fish, a white meaty and very tasty treat, the Ono, or the Opah (Moonfish). Whatever you do however, never order the Humuhumunukunukuapuaa, why- it`s the protected national state fish of the Hawaiian Islands. I know, you are still trying to pronounce the name so let me help you break it down, pronounce the vowels, Hoo-moo-hoo-moo-noo-koo-noo-koo-ah-poo-ah-ah. I hope you got it, as you may just be quizzed on you first tour bus trip around the island. If you look carefully you may be lucky enough to spot this absolutely beautiful fish while snorkeling off the Hawaiian coast on one of the snorkel resorts (see the attractions section for snorkeling locations).

Whatever you do please remember this, you are in Hawaii!! Besides all the other obvious reasons for which you should be reminded, you have to try the native Hawaiian Polynesian Foods. Most, if not all the other cuisines can be found at home, you may however only have a once in a lifetime chance to taste the true original taste of Hawaii.
