Oahu's Famous Waikiki Beach
Location
The world famous Waikiki Beach is a 2 mile stretch of beautiful beach sand extending from the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel (the pink hotel) to the Natatorium War Memorial. Flanked by world renowned Waikiki hotels and shopping areas on one side and the majestic warm blue pacific waters on the other, the colorful beauty and specter of Waikiki can be seen in full flight. Equipped with lifeguards, the beach is excellent for swimming and surfing and provides reef protected swimming areas ideal for kids. Surfboards can be rented along the beach and surf lessons are available for those interested in learning the sport. Though this beach can be very crowded and filled with activities during the daytime, it is well worth the experience. The outlook of Waikiki Beach is spectacular at sunrise.
Beach Tips
Box Jellyfish usually crowd the shorelines of Oahu between 8 to 10 days after a full moon. Pay close attention to any posted warning signs and ask a lifeguard when in doubt. While snorkeling, avoid stepping on the corals.

Waikiki - there's nothing else quite like it
Waikiki is not my favorite beach on the island, but there's something about it that you just gotta love. The swimming is good there; it doesn't drop off quickly. There is a lot to do - you can go on a catamaran ride or if you are daring, take a surfing lesson. Sure, it's crowded, but everyone is having a good time. The local kids are jumping off the wall down by the Kapahulu groin & the tourists are slathering on the sunscreen so everything has that nice coconut-y smell. Around sunset, it is a great place for a romantic stroll & you can usually listen to music from the beach bars as you walk the shore. Don't miss at least a brief visit to this classic beach.
