Aloha 08
We visited my daughter April 26-May 4, 2008 in Kailua on the island of Oahu. Unfortunately our son-in-law was detached, protecting our Pacific Rim. They purchased a condo in Kailua Sept. '07 so we knew going there we had great room and board and a personal tour guide! I was so excited to be seeing my daughter and in such a beautiful setting. Well, I had NO idea of just how truly beautiful it was. Breathtaking beauty, a true paradise. I have seen numerous pictures but NOTHING compares to that first view of the Ko'olau mountains or the waterfall at the end of your hike on Likeke Trail, the whales seen while hiking to the Makapu'u Lighthouse. It was absolutely the greatest experience. We fell in love with Hawaii and continue to live Aloha here on the mainland. We are planning our next trip but will be sending for a care package until we can meet again. I recommend Hule Hule Chicken, Kona coffee, mac-nut muffins, pancakes with coconut syrup, Maui Chips, Maui gold pineapple. Yum. I truly recommend experiencing the local scene, farmer's market on Thursday, swap meet for souveniers, Longs Drugstore is very affordable. Walk, hike, smell the flowers, visit the North Shore. Visit Tropical Farms on Kualoa Ranch and do the mac nut tour. Be sure to meet Chief Sielu Avea while there and book tickets to his luau and experience first hand what makes Hawaii so warm and inviting.
Aloha and mahalo,
Mary and Dan
