Plan your Hawaii Trip
It is recommended that you plan for each day of your trip to Hawaii prior to visiting the islands. Create an itinerary plan for each day of your trip but allow for the flexibility of adding items to your plans.
The information below summarizes some important areas of your trip worth considering.
Identification:
Make sure to travel with at least two forms of identification. At least one form of identification should be in the form of a photo ID. Some acceptable forms of IDs are passports, driver’s licenses and birth certificates.
Note: US citizens traveling from another state do not require a passport in order to travel to Hawaii. A state ID or Drivers license will suffice.
International Visitors:
International visitors will require a passport in order to travel to Hawaii. Passports should be valid beyond six months of the visit; otherwise you could face legal ramifications. A valid US visa may also be required for visitors of most countries in order to visit the United States. For more information, and to confirm if you will require a visa, visit the US Department of State website.
Airport and Security Clearance:
Do not attempt to smuggle prohibited or illegal items on board a airplane or in your luggage. Some items will simply be confiscated but you could face criminal charges for others. Visit the Transportation Security Administration website for a list of prohibited items. A visit to the Department of Homeland Security is also recommended.
