How long is it to drive from Waikiki to Waimea beach on the North Shore?

I want to rent a car for a day to drive from Honolulu to the North Shore. I am leaving my hotel in Waikiki and going to Waimea Beach. I plan on leaving early morning at approximately 10:00 am. How long does this typically take considering Hawaii traffic at that time of the morning and what is the approximate distance of the drive?

The trip should take you approximately 1 hour to get from Waikiki to Waimea Beach on the North shore of Oahu. Honolulu traffic is generally bad, but outbound from the city should be somewhat good at that particular time of the morning. You should have a straight forward drive without encountering too much traffic. The distance from Waikiki to Waimea is also about 38.7 mi driving. If you decide to go by public transportation, The Bus, then the driving time will be about 2 hours long with many stops in between.
