Haleakala National Park Plans

I will be vacationing in Maui in 2 weeks. I hear the sunrise at Haleakala National Park is very beautiful. I would also like to hike around the volcano. What should I look for when planning a trip to the Haleakala National Park?

Aloha Alicia,

Though a very long drive (approx. 2 hrs from most hotel resorts), you will love the drive to the summit. The scenery is very beautiful and will make the driving a whole lot easier and seem faster (even at 30 mph). Try to go very early to beat the crowds but do keep in mind that the temperatures at the summit will be significantly lower, and could range anywhere from 20-50 degrees lower so be prepared for this.
