Visit the Pearl Harbor Memorials and re-live the events of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, and the consequential United States entry into World War II. Start with a visit to the museum at the USS Arizona memorial Visitors Center. Visitors are first introduced and educated on the events of that day through a 23 minutes documentary film. Visitors are then boarded onto a US Navy shuttle boat for a ride out to the actual memorial which is built over the actual sunken battleship.

At the conclusion of the visit to the Arizona Memorial, a visit to the Battleship USS Missouri Memorial ("Mighty Mo")is recommended. Launched in 1944 and decommissioned in 1998, the Battleship USS Missouri is a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Gulf War. It was also upon the decks of this ship that the ceremony ending World War II took place. Admission to the Arizona Memorial is free during hours of operation from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. while admissions to the USS Missouri range from $8-$16 during hours of operation from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking is also free.

Pearl Harbor Tips

Note that these attractions are often very crowded and arriving early could make the difference between 15 minutes and 2 hours wait time during the busy seasons. The Bus, routes 86 and 86A goes to Pearl Harbor or you can consider using one of the guides leaving from Waikiki.
