Kualoa Ranch

Location

The place to go for horseback riding is the Kualoa Ranch, in the northeastern countryside of Oahu, and approximately half an hour drive from Waikiki. Explore this 4,000 acre cattle ranch on horseback or on an ATV tour. There are plenty of different tours to choose from depending on the type of adventure you are looking for as well as the length and difficulty of the tour. Numerous scenes from popular movies and TV shows were filmed on this ranch, these including scenes from "Jurassic Park," "Mighty Joe Young," "Godzilla," "50 First Dates" and "Windtakers." The ranch is considered to be one of the most sacred places on the island and is a historical landmark. The mountainous cliffs on the ranch are of the best spots to take pictures of the famous "Chinaman`s Hat" islands just off coast.

Tips for Kualoa Ranch

Remember to bring covered shoes, long pants, and sunscreen. If you did not rent a car, there are plenty of activity vendors and tour guides that will book your activity and offer transportation. Kualoa Ranch offers these services directly as well. There are two types of activities they offer: Adventure Tours and Hawaiian Experience Tours. Adventure consists of Horseback riding, ATV, or Gun Range. Hawaiian Experience consists of Ocean Voyaging, Hawaiian fishpond and garden, Paliku Exploration, Jungle Expedition, and Movie Sites and Ranch. Please note that there are age limits to some of the tours.
