Bicycling is a great way to take in breathtaking views of the island of Maui. It is an excellent two for one activity – not only is it a great workout and stress reliever, but all the while you will be enjoying a closer encounter with Maui`s natural beauty.

There are many bicycle tour operators in Maui. Chose one the one that fits your budget and/or your itinerary. The most popular rides offer you a chance to see the sunrise or bike all the way up to one of Maui`s summits. The sunrise at Haleakala National Park is extremely beautiful and is a favorite of many visitors as well as a favorite of locals. Depending on the tour operator you chose, you may also get the option to also hike around the volcano, another favorite of many visitors.

Our Suggestions:
As opposed to an all-wheel drive/Jeep tour, a bicycle ride offers you more close encounters with the island since you can ride a bike to almost anywhere. Additionally, operating a bicycling does not harm the environment and is cheaper. If you choose to hike to a summit in the morning in order to see the sun rise, be advised to go very early. If you do go early however, bring a light jacket as temperatures at the top of the summit are significantly lower than at sea level. Otherwise, if you go during the daytime bring sunscreen and bug spray to protect yourself from mosquitoes or other bugs. Try to also wear comfortable clothes and shoes and do consider a hat.
